We are often asked what bulk fiber should be pulled in residential installations. Considering TechLogix manufactures HDMI over fiber optic extenders, we have lots of exposure to fiber-based installations. We don't, however, always have exposure to the cable being pulled.
To answer the question, we turned to our friend Eric Bodley, President of Future Ready Solutions, a leading custom installation distributor focused heavily on emerging fiber-based technology.
When posed the question, Eric chuckled and answered with "D50125MOM3P." Evidently, he's asked the question frequently enough to memorize the Cleerline part number from his catalog.
"Hands down, plenum-rated multimode duplex OM3 is the most common bulk fiber purchased," he continued. "I actually recommend four strands pulled to each location, but we see two strands pulled most frequently."
So there you have it, duplex OM3 is what most people are pulling. And the good news is most TechLogix extenders are actually designed for use with duplex fiber.
