1x2 HDMI Splitter

***Superseded by TechLogix's splitters with scaling technology -- check it out***

The need to split an HDMI signal is quite common. In residential applications, splitters are often used for sending a single cable box to multiple displays. In office applications, splitters are often used for sending a single computer to multiple monitors. In education applications, splitters are often used to send a video source to both a desktop monitor and a ceiling mounted projector. There are lots of use patterns, and they all revolve around the need to take a single HDMI source and send it to multiple destinations.

The TL-DA12-HD splits a single source to two destinations (typically displays or projectors). A built-in amplification circuit ensures performance for higher resolutions like 1080p and 4K@30 and longer cable lengths.

  • What comes in the package?
Each TL-DA12-HD includes one splitter and one power supply.

What's the max length of HDMI cables that I can connect to the splitter?
It really depends on the cable type and quality. Typically, we recommend using a twisted pair or fiber optic extender set for cable runs longer than 50 feet.

Do I need to power the unit?
Yes, the TL-DA12-HD requires power and ships with a power supply.

I found a similar splitter online that doesn't need power and is a lot less expensive. Are you ripping me off?
Well, our families need to eat too. But seriously... Splitters come in multiple formats, and in most cases you get what you pay for. Passive splitters (the kind that don't need power) are prone to signal loss because the device is essentially stealing power to operate - that and the fact that the HDMI signal is being halved or worse. Passive splitters are particularly problematic with longer cable runs and higher resolutions.

    So power is needed?
Yeah, for this particular product. And if you are buying something from a different supplier, we still recommend you use an active (powered) splitter. Powered splitters are also known as 'distribution amplifiers', they distribute the signal to multiple destinations and they amplify the signal to ensure performance. Seriously, you are spending $1,000+ on your display... it's not worth cheaping out on the connecting hardware and cabling.

Do you offer a warranty on this device?
We sure do. It's a standard one year limited warranty. Extended warranties are available from our integration partners and certified resellers.
