Madison, WI – TechLogix Networx, a leader in signal distribution technology, has taken a different approach for sending video extended distances – they leverage fiber optics.
“Fiber optic technology is a natural fit for houses of worship,” explains Cameron Smith, TechLogix CEO. “Fiber allows for much longer signal transmission distances, which can be particularly important for large sanctuaries, and it’s immune to electromagnetic and RF interference, which can cause signal performance issues.”
TechLogix manufactures a number of solutions that address different signal formats and distances. Their entry level technology, the TL-FO-HD, transmits a single HDMI signal up to 1,000 ft., whereas their TLXpress system transmits HDMI, IR, RS232 and Ethernet up to 30 km. TechLogix products include both point-to-point extenders and IP-based matrix solutions.
“Historically, fiber had a high barrier to entry,” continues Mr. Smith. “The price was high, the cable was hard to work with, and there weren’t a lot of electronics that were compatible. Today, bulk fiber cabling and fiber-based electronics are similarly priced to their twisted pair comparables, and fiber cable is actually easier to pull and terminate than shielded Cat 6.”
Another benefit of fiber is its ability to handle high-bandwidth signals. TechLogix fiber extenders support 4K signals up to 18G (4K@60 4:4:4) with zero latency, which is critical in live worship applications.
